Swim Fit coaches are fully credited and licenced through the Australian Swimming Coaches & Teachers Association (ASCTA) and through the Australian Sports Commissions National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS).If there is a recommendation to move Squads, you will be contacted and encouraged to make this change during re-enrolment period. Throughout the term, Swimmers are reviewed by their coach, under the guidance of our Head Coach, on a number of different skills.Swimmers are expected to read the pace clock and generally swim between 1800m and 2400m per session with repeat lengths beginning at 50m and up to 200m. Swimmers generally swim between 1400m and 1800m per session with repeat lengths of 50m and 100m.įor swimmers competent in all 4 strokes and in their starts and turns. Swimmers generally swim between 1000m and 1200m per session with repeat lengths of between 25m and 50m.įor swimmers competent in all 4 strokes and have an understanding of starts, turns and reading the pace clock. Swim Fit is divided into 3 different levels:įor swimmers new to “squad training” and not yet proficient in all 4 strokes. Swimmers also have the opportunity throughout the term to develop skills for their school swimming carnival. Three session per week: 50% off the third sessionĪ non-competitive fitness squad for swimmers aged between 12 - 18 years of age wishing to maintain a healthy active lifestyle whilst further developing their stroke techniques. Joining the SOPAC Swim Team and entering interclub and specific race meets is possible. All competitive strokes and racing skills will be developed and endurance and speed will be improved. Training Times: Mon - Fri: 4pm - 5pm and 5.15pm - 6.15pm Interclub and specific race meets are available. Squad training skills and lap etiquette are also covered with the opportunity to join the SOPAC Swim Team. All four competitive strokes, turns and starts will be developed, endurance and speed will improve. Providing a smooth transition from learn to swim, this is a development program in preparation for competitive swimming. These squads are held during school terms and are suitable for swimmers who have completed Learn to Swim and wish to develop their endurance and stroke consistency.
